How to Choose Banquet Linen That Survives 300 Events a Year
Banquet linen lives a harder life than almost any other textile in a hotel. It is dressed and stripped daily, washed at high temperature, and expected to look immaculate at a wedding one evening and a conference the next morning. Choosing the right banquet table linen up front saves real money.
Start with fabric and weight
For banquet use, specify a heavier damask or a tightly woven plain cotton. Fabric that is too light wrinkles badly in storage and looks tired after a season. Mercerised cotton is the safest default - it launders beautifully and the lustre survives industrial washing far better than untreated cotton or blends.
Get the sizes right
Order cloths against your actual table inventory, not a catalogue default. A 72-inch round table needs a 120-inch round cloth for a full drop; a 6-foot buffet needs a different drop than a 4-foot. We weave banquet linen to custom sizes precisely because hotel table inventories are never standard.
Build a colour strategy
White remains the backbone of banquet service because it can be bleached and is always in style. Many properties add a second colourway - ivory, champagne, or a deep tone for themed events. Because our damask is yarn-dyed and woven to order, a second colourway is a simple addition rather than a new supplier relationship.
Plan the par level
The classic rule is a 3-par system: one set on the table, one in the laundry, one in the store. Properties with heavy weekend banquet loads often run 4-par on their most-used sizes. Buying to the right par level is cheaper than emergency reorders - and our woven-to-order model makes replenishment straightforward.
