Table Cloth Sizes for Hotels: A Practical Sizing Guide for F&B Buyers
Order table cloths against a catalogue size chart and half of them will puddle on the floor or hover awkwardly above it. Hotel tables are never standard - which is why sizing is the first conversation we have with every F&B buyer.
Understand the drop
The 'drop' is how far the cloth hangs below the table edge. For formal dining, the classic drop is 12 to 15 inches - long enough to look generous, short enough that guests do not sit on the fabric. Banquet and buffet service often uses a full drop to the floor; casual and breakfast service can work with 8 to 10 inches.
Common hotel table sizes
A 36-inch round table (seats 2-4) typically takes a 63-inch cloth for a formal drop. A 72-inch round banquet table needs a 120-inch round cloth for a full drop. A standard 6-foot rectangular buffet table takes a 90 x 132 inch cloth to the floor.
These are starting points, not answers. Measure your actual table inventory - diameter, height, and any unusual pedestal or trestle bases - before placing an order.
