Napkin Styles Every F&B Director Should Know: From Satin Band to Waffle Weave
The napkin is the one piece of table linen a guest actually touches. Its weight, texture, and fold say more about a restaurant's standards than almost anything else on the table. Here is how the main styles differ.
Satin band napkins
The classic hotel napkin: a plain field framed by a woven satin band border. Satin band napkins press to a crisp, formal finish and suit fine-dining rooms, banquets, and anywhere a traditional look is wanted. They are also the easiest style to coordinate with damask table cloths.
Damask and self-design napkins
All-over jacquard patterns - florals, diamonds, geometrics - woven into the cloth itself. Damask napkins carry pattern without colour, so they stay elegant under any lighting and match any centrepiece. They are the standard choice for palace hotels and luxury banquet service.
Linen and waffle weave napkins
Linen napkins have a dry, textured hand that suits contemporary and casual-luxury dining. Waffle weave napkins are softer and more absorbent - a favourite for bistros, lounges, and airline service where a relaxed look is wanted without sacrificing quality.
Embroidered and cocktail napkins
Cocktail napkins (typically 6 to 9 inches) serve the bar and events side of the operation. Custom embroidery - a monogram, a crest, a logo - turns a small napkin into a branding touch that guests remember. We produce embroidered and monogrammed napkins to order for hotels, airlines, and private clubs.
